As our Vessel Operations Officer, you are part of our ambitious and diverse Chartering Operations team within Viterra Chartering B.V. Our new Vessel Operations Officer has a passion for shipping, is able to set priorities and enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will be handling the entire operational process of our worldwide chartered fleet. With the use of advanced data driven voyage management systems, you will strive to deliver a more sustainable, transparent, and efficient freight service to Viterra B.V, as well as our external clients. You are always seeking opportunities to improve overall quality and will take part in the development of the team by participating in projects and sharing your knowledge with (junior) colleagues.

About Viterra Chartering B.V.
Viterra Chartering B.V. has office locations in Rotterdam and Singapore. The company consists of multiple teams: Freight Trade, Operations (Voyage and Time Chartering), Bunker desk, Technical and Vetting management/Sustainability, Freight Accounting, Risk- and Position management all supported by our Digital Development team, totaling >70 team members. The primary function of Viterra Chartering B.V. is to commercially manage, execute and operate all dry bulk sea freight requirements and risks, which arise within the grain- and oilseed trading activities of Viterra B.V. We manage between 180-220 dry bulk vessels and annually transport about 65 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo globally, which makes us one of the bigger companies operating in dry bulk shipping.

Your role in our network

  • Being responsible for the optimal voyage planning of your own vessel fleet (incl. checking and coordinating bunker requirements, cargo intakes, port rotations, optimal sea routes, vessels performance, appointment of port agents etc.);
  • Providing daily updates on the voyage planning to relevant (internal and external) clients and stakeholders;
  • Monitor, analyze and report on fluctuations in the profit and loss for each voyage on a daily basis;
  • Accurate and timely preparation of invoices and (laytime) calculations, including monitoring of payables and receivables;
  • Pro-active involvement in development of the team by participating in projects and sharing knowledge with (junior) colleagues.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have at least 3-5 years’ experience within a logistical and/or shipping organization;
  • You have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in relevant field such as nautical, technical or maritime field of study;
  • Collaborative and commercial mindset, with a practical pro-active attitude;
  • You have good analytical skills with the ability to identify key issues, but also with the right attention for detail;
  • Strong communication skills, including both verbal and written fluency in English;
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills;
  • You must be located in The Netherlands.
